Meg Richard was working for an auto supplier when she began to toy with the idea of opening her own home-decor boutique in Birmingham. In order to gauge customer interest, she hosted a preview party in her sister's basement to showcase the merchandise she had collected. She mail 1,200 invitations, and 300 shoppers attended and bought $12,000 dollars worth of merchandise. That cinched it--She decided to open her store, The Fuchsia Frog.
